Ranzan was a wonderful dining experience! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, while the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole visit enjoyable. I’d definitely come back again and recommend Ranzan to anyone looking for a great meal in Redwood City!
Amazing meal, one of the few places for authentic kaiseki in the bay area. Very delicate flavors and intricately crafted. The zensai in particular was exquisite, grilled kamasu with egg yolk sauce was absolutely delicious and had me scraping off every bit of sauce from my plate. We went there for Mother’s Day lunch, and it was a genuine kaiseki experience in a shorter lunch format. The dining ware was beautiful, and every course reflected the chef’s technique and thoughtful intention. I especially appreciated how the chef used refined cooking techniques to bring out the natural flavors of each ingredient rather than relying on heavy seasoning. I had the distinct pleasure of visiting on 6/24/26 with my coworkers. Each dish was a work of art to appreciate in taste, mouthfeel, and aesthetic. I was moved tremendously. I suppose I could write a detailed essay on each but I will let the photos do the talking. Everything tastes even better than they look!
