The selection and availability of items in this store has taken a nose dive lately. Did Ralph's make a decision to downgrade? Is it to cut costs?

Supermarket chain offers patrons well-stocked shelves of groceries and household products. – In Short Ralphs Grocery Co. was founded in 1873 by George Albert Ralphs. Since then the chain has expanded throughout Southern California and in 1999 was acquired by the Ohio-based grocery giant Kroger Co. Ralphs offers a wide variety of items, ranging from fruits, vegetables and meats to dairy, fresh-baked goods, housewares, beer and wine, books, magazines and flowers. Most locations also have a pharmacy and photo lab.

Much improved – In all the years that this grocery store has been on the corner of Colorado and Verdugo, I have only recently begun shopping here. Before the renovation, I only visited this store if no other store around had what I needed. This Ralphs location had narrow aisles and always seemed overcrowded and dirty. After the renovation, it's much cleaner, the aisles are a little wider. I definitely shop here more often now, and don't purposefully avoid the store anymore. This Ralphs is a perfect example of how local management can torpedo a company's reputation. Most other locations seem to run things just fine. Not here. At THIS store I've found the following: Brands aren't stocked based on their popularity (seems like the high-bidder-of-the-month for shelving fees gets the WHOLE SHELF), so you can never count on finding your favorites; you can't trust the sell-by dates on their perishable inventory - bread is usually only a couple of days from going moldy, old& gray hamburger is sometimes ... read more
