They set out few telescope for people to look through. It’s a neat experience, especially for children. I was surprised to see how many people drive out to Denton to see the planets through the telescopes. One of them was pointing to Flame nebula. The event seems to be run by students. The drive to location is an adventure in itself, but it was worth it. One suggestion: come early! The event brings large crowds and parking is limited.
Rafes Urban Astronomy Center is a fantastic spot for stargazing, especially if you’re even remotely into astronomy. They host biweekly star parties where knowledgeable volunteers set up a variety of telescopes and walk you through what you’re seeing, which makes the experience both educational and exciting.
