Correction to Mr. BadStrings The client who purchased strings must have had heartburn. I have dealt with Quist for 5 years (new bow, bow strings, strings, bridge, chin rest, violin tune-up and even 5 years of lessons). Jim Quist is the epitome of patience. If Mr. BadStrings had a problem I suspect it had more to do with his digestion than Jim Quist's service. I'd hate to see this lovely business (and location!) damaged by a review that missed the mark.
Ridiculous Do not buy strings here. He wanted around $170 for a set of "Soloist Visions [sic]" viola strings, and was very rude and condescending when I said that they usually go for around $90 (they're $95 on Shar, Southwest, Concord, and GoStrings). Come on, pal.
Strings! This is a beautiful little store in downtown Bellingham that sells everything for the serious string musician. I bought my cello strings here for years, and the staff was always helpful in getting me exactly what I wanted at a very fair price. Lots of beautiful instruments for sale, too.
