Excellent location for walking around Helen. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was nicely remodeled, clean and comfortable.
The rooms are recently renovated and have new, big-screen TVs. However, there is a surprise fee for parking ($5 a day) which is hidden even on their official listing via Choice Hotels -- you need to really look to find it mentioned! It's particularly awkward if you booked third party and were offered "free parking" as an amenity, like me... Besides that, all I can complain about is the lack of protein options for breakfast. Our stay here was a complete drama! 1st our assigned room (110) the previous guest smoked inside and the cigarette smell was terrible. Their staff tried to clean the room again, housekeeping lady was very kind and sweet, however, the smell was too strong. So we got a different room (131). Everything was fine and clean. We were only staying for 1 night. After check out, we found 2 nights charged to our credit card, plus front desk agent, Ms Lynn, was EVERYTHING but nice or helpful. Cant say enough GOOD things about this motel. Front Desk Clerk was AWESOME, friendly and very helpful. The room was EXCELLENT; very clean and well kept. The location is PERFECT for walking. Just a very nice experience and we will stay here again.
