I came into the ER August 31st having thought a cyst and ruptured. I thought I just needed antibiotics and I would be on my way. They listened to what I said, heard things I didn’t even mean to say and acted fast. I was given a CT scan that provided information that I would need immediate emergency surgery. Writhing 7 hours of being there I had multiple tests, scans and was being prepped for surgery. The care I received was fast, compassionate and dignified. Well, its the only hospital in belleville, cant complain much but the emerg is just horrible. Its so unfair for small infants to wait for 12 hours.. really need to add some extra staffs.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Don’t ever go here in an emergency. My son was bit in the face by a dog and came on an ambulance and was placed in a wheelchair in the waiting room. 3 hours later the triage nurse came out and said they only have 1 doctor on nights and the wait time could be SEVERAL HOURS - like 7hrs. This is not the first time I’ve experienced a wait like this at Belleville General. I’ve waited for this amount of time every time I’ve been here at night other than anaphylactic shock cases. Oh you through up blood? please take 2 soft pills that lay the pain away for 30 mins. I’ve been waiting to see a doctor for 7 hours now and they won’t treat me. Through up and lying on the floor? “Let me see what I can do” gets a room 2 hours later. This hospital is beyond understaffed and underfunded to qualify as an emergency hospital. It’s embarrassing
