The ER staff were friendly, but the wait times are simply unacceptable. I can only imagine how many people have left with serious medical issues because after 10 or 12 hours, they couldn’t wait any longer. My recommendation is to get triaged, have your tests and then leave. Ask for them to be forwarded to your family doctor and call them the next day if at all possible.

I was left for 8 hours having my own pain meds wear off and put into dehydration. I left the hospital worse then I arrived. Asking for standard Advil or Tylenol and denied even after they knew I didn’t need surgery is ridiculous. Going in I knew I needed antibiotics as this is an issue I dealt with for 3 years. They knew I had mild hypothermia and ran a race on Sunday, they should not of let my system crash. I came into the ER August 31st having thought a cyst and ruptured. I thought I just needed antibiotics and I would be on my way. They listened to what I said, heard things I didn’t even mean to say and acted fast. I was given a CT scan that provided information that I would need immediate emergency surgery. Writhing 7 hours of being there I had multiple tests, scans and was being prepped for surgery. The care I received was fast, compassionate and dignified. Well, its the only hospital in belleville, cant complain much but the emerg is just horrible. Its so unfair for small infants to wait for 12 hours.. really need to add some extra staffs.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Don’t ever go here in an emergency. My son was bit in the face by a dog and came on an ambulance and was placed in a wheelchair in the waiting room. 3 hours later the triage nurse came out and said they only have 1 doctor on nights and the wait time could be SEVERAL HOURS - like 7hrs. This is not the first time I’ve experienced a wait like this at Belleville General. I’ve waited for this amount of time every time I’ve been here at night other than anaphylactic shock cases.
