When my mother had fallen, they responded to get her to a hospital, they yanked her by her feet to pick her up, taking no precautions to protect her from further injuries. She had 2 fractured vertebrae & a broken humerus. They picked her up without a gait belt by holding her from behind around her rib cage. They took her in the ambulance in wet clothing because of her fall, with no blanket or change of clean clothing.
