I was a resident that had to be transferred to another facility because of PHAs decision to end their contract with DOC. After I was transferred I realized the staff really cared about the lives of residents and made efforts to engage with them beyond being staff. Staff was also very friendly which I believe is because they were hired by PHA instead of DOC. DOC staff usually could not care less about residents which I noticed after I left. Resident here barely getting fed properly. Maintenance is horrible. Wall sockets are loose. None of the windows are on the tracks. Showers are 1/8 pressure of what they are supposed to be.. trash trash trash...

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT I left a negative review if this facility under the previous management by the Progress House Association. I am updating my star rating, as I have no desire to affect the success of the facility and the DOC program. *previous comment in brackets: [This may not be the best choice for many. I have read the other reviews and they are unfortunate. Also, they do not reflect the feelings of over 16,000+ former residents that have transitioned to a better life because of this program. As a work-release, I expect residents to complain when they are sent back or infracted but my hope is that others will also share their experiences both positive and negative so the readers have a fuller picture.

I've watched the staff of PHA and DOC work tirelessly together to make this Work Release a place of peace, camaraderie and respect. The residents are addressed by Mr/Miss Last Name, their concerns are addressed quickly and positively, and their living conditions are above reproach. Progress House is a great place to finish out one's sentenced time. I'd recommend it to anyone seeking an alternative to staying in jail or prison.
