Decided to try The Principal vs hotel chain. Glad I did. Very nice place in downtown Columbia. Room was standard King. Plenty of space for me. Warmly greeted when I walked in. Nice and new. Very clean. Graphite restaurant is a bonus offering breakfast and dinner. Will stay again. Highly recommend for business or pleasure.

I came through for work and stayed 2 nights. I travel for work at least 30 weeks a year. To say this is the absolute best hotel I've stayed at is an understatement. I've stayed at Hilton, Hyatt, and high-end private owned hotels. Nothing compares to The Principal. The beds are heavenly. The bathrooms are spacious and beyond clean. The staff were almost annoyingly nice. If this place was in a larger city, they could charge double and they'd be booked year round.

We rented the 2-bedroom suite for 4 adults and 3 toddlers. It was a lovely stay and surpassed our expectations, and here is what made our stay so pleasant: 1. This is not a suite, it's an apartment. The fully- appointed kitchen made a huge difference to meet the needs of our little ones. 2. The two bedrooms were roomy, had great closet and storage space, and the king-size beds were very comfortable and looked and felt luxurious with the linens. 3. My wife and I had a staycation last weekend and decided to spend the night here. We loved this hotel. The room was pretty large, the bed was comfortable, and the amenities were very nice. We'd recommend staying here if you're in the area!
