Broke my hand so went to A&E, assessed after 50mins, through to x ray after an hour and was on my way with a temporary cast after 90mins. Everyone friendly and welcoming. Was a monday about 11am

Shocking service over 4 hours wait time with a child under 16. Ridiculous. Plenty of staff walking around but that's all they seem to do. I think they make you wait hours on purpose just to make sure you really need help. No sense of urgency at all. Staff on desk very rude when you ask how long wait will be. At least if they gave you a rough estimate it wouldn't be so bad. They say they're bust but same people sat around for hours.

Had an unexpected stop here with a potentially serious condition. Saw the consultant almost immediately who was thorough and reassuring. All staff were kind, efficient and helpful. Long wait for blood test results but that was not unexpected when we saw how busy the department was getting. Good follow up by phone. Very impressed.

The staff are lovely & try so hard to please everyone. Yes it's busy & you have to wait but all in all cannot fault this hospital. Chairs so uncomfortable if you have a bad back but it's not the ritz. Well done Staff.

If you need to go to A&E, I suggest taking a sleeping bag, a pillow, a few days' worth of clothes, and money for the coffee machine.
