This must be a corporate practice and they have no shame in sending you to collections without a courtesy phone call. I was unaware about a $150 balance on my account and despite communication between myself and the clinic and billing staff to follow up about a referral for an MRI, no one had the courtesy to bring up the unpaid balance and instead decided to send the account into collections.
