Prickly Pear has been delighting locals as well as travelers with their delectable southwestern dishes since 1991. Served in generous portions, their dishes are perfect for those seeking respite after a long shopping spree or sightseeing excursion. There are nachos to get you started followed by the butternut squash soup which is hit among regular patrons. If you are a light eater, opt for the quesadillas, while the duck meat enchiladas and chimichangas laden with beef brisket are perfect for those with an ardent appetite.

One of the best in A2 My family often goes here on special occasions. My brother and his wife love this place--he even proposed to her here. It can be a little dark and crowded inside. It's often very busy so you may have to wait a while for service. But if you look you can see the waiters running around trying their hardest. And you can eat all the chips and fabulous salsa you want while you're waiting. That said, food is excellent. I often have the sweet potato enchilada. Or I split a scallop quesadilla with my sister. Flavorful food - good variety Prickly Pear has consistently good food - flavorful and fresh. The menu accommodates big and small appetites - just don't fill up on the fresh chips & salsa first :-) During the summer, sitting outside is very nice and more than doubles seating capacity, which helps since they don't take reservations. In the winter - it's a warm & cozy restaurant - very pretty inside (the booth seating is great, the tables can be a little crowded). The wait staff is full-service - clearly working hard, but also ... read more
Decent food but prepare for a wait We enjoy going here occasionally to enjoy the margaritas and a different twist on Mexican food. The food is good, but the restaurant is often very busy meaning long wait times and it can be difficult to hear the person across the table in order to carry on a conversation. We still eat here occasionally, but often feel that the wait and the noise aren't worth it.
Prickly Pear Fabulous southwest menu in a quaint atmosphere right on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor. In the summer months you can dine al fresco both in front and back of the restarant. Worth the wait and a great place for salsa, chips and magaritas.
Absolutely wonderful – We just returned to Saginaw from having a wonderful meal at the Prickly Pear Cafe. We looked on the internet for a place to meet for dinner. Our daughter and son in law drove up, from their home in Ohio, to meet us for Father's Day. When we looked at the menu for Prickly Pear Cafe (on this website) we decided to try it. The menu is extensive. Once there we found convenient parking behind the cafe. The food was wonderful. The service was great. Although, the place is small, the atmosphere was unique. Do... read more

Dull, Dull, Dull – I was excited to try this restaurant as there hasn't been a good southwestern restaurant in the Detroit area since Brian Polcyn's Chimayo in Pontiac. Please remove the word "Southwest" from the name of this place. Anyone that has traveled in the southwest would agree this is not southwestern cuisine. They simply serve mediocre tex-mex food with maybe a lighter touch. Their down fall begins with the salsa - some flavorless chopped tomatoes and onion, dull. The sweet potato pancakes? Dull. They might as well... read more
