The guide, Ed, was professional and friendly. But I have two minor points I might as well make. He was a bit soft-spoken, sometimes hard to hear, especially at the end of sentences, so that from time to time I asked him to repeat what he had just said. The other thing is that when we were viewing a large portrait of Brigham Young, Ed explained that the word DESERET at the top of the ornately carved frame was a word from the BIBLE that means Honeybee. Thank you for the wonderful Christmas tour of the Governor's mansion. Even though I am a long-term Utahn it is the first time I have been inside. The paintings, decor, woodwork, tile and art are beautiful. The docents were kind, very knowledgeable and friendly. The Guards were also helpful and courteous. Thank you, Becky P
We took a tour of the Salt Lake City and county building! It was so fun going on the tour and seeing behind the scenes of the building! Our volunteer guide gave us a lot of information. Going up in the bell tower and out on the roof cat walks was amazing! We toured the Governors mansion decorated for Christmas. Our tour guide, Ruth, gave a great tour! So fun to learn more about the mansion.
Docent was very kind and well informed. Blue and White wide ribbons made the Christmas decorations look very tacky and didn't match the elegance of the building. Not a fan. The art that the governor chose for the rooms didn't match the surrounding either. Detracted from the ambiance. Art should be chosen to enhance the style of the building. Apparently the Governor lacks taste in decorating.
