Dr. Shekar performed mitral value repair on my mother. She was in good health going into the surgery. 75 years old, energetic and no problems with her blood pressure, just a little bit of a leaky value that she was told could become an issue. She suffered a stroke during the surgery due to human error and has never been the same. Such a vivacious person struck down. Get a second opinion.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Shekar and his staff and BWH. My husband had an aortic valve replacement and the care that he received, not only by the nurses/doctors in the ICU and his recovery room, was OUTSTANDING. After his release from BWH by husband had some questions and we left a message for Dr. Shekar and he got back to me the same day (within an hour). The hands-on care/attention was amazing. Dr. Shekar took the time to explain to us what exactly was going to happen. He is a saint!
