Where do I start. My husband had a botched ankle replacement by another prominent foot/ankle surgeon in Southlake a year ago and then another surgery in February by the same doctor to add more screws. I wish I could give more than 5 stars for my experience with Dr. Downey, Troy, and Hannah—if possible, I’d give them 8,300 stars! I came to Dr. Downey after enduring over a year of pain from an accident, as well as arthritis. As someone of a larger size, I had significant concerns about the surgery, knowing that it can present unique challenges. Dr. Sanders came in 1 hour and 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, to which I was on time. Dr. Sanders had an unpleasant demeanor, and didn't seem like he actually cared much about my health issue. When I asked questions he responded, but answered in a dismissive and condescending way. At the end of the appointment he said he could give me a prescription for PT. Went in for a second opinion after an injury, left as a new patient of Dr. Downey. Very impressed by his honest and conservative approach. He didn’t pressure or scare me into getting surgery immediately. Instead, he spent time to thoroughly and thoughtfully discuss my options, and explained clearly his thought process and reasons for his recommendations. Exactly what you’d want from your surgeon!
