We went as locals with visitors who had seen the sign. What a find. The stock was very affordable. The staff assistant was so lovely and friendly. She gave us a rundown on the shop history and her enthusiasm was as good as the greenstone being sold. I will bring back guests.
Great shop unfortunately didnt have any pounamu rings
Very disappointing to visit and see the quality of the pieces on sale. Especially with the current price of petrol to travel from Auckland. And to find that some of the stone isn't even from NZ, but jade from British Columbia. May be quite fine for tourists to buy as a souvenir, but not for kiwis who want the genuine, quality article. There was a good selection but generally the pieces are dull and uninspiring, and the man serving was not helpful or welcoming, hence no purchase.
