Flushing toilet was a pleasant surprise. The kitchen sink has running water, but signs warn it's not potable. We brought a backpacking filter and used the sink water. The beds seem very new in spring of 2023. Sizes are queen and full. There is NOT a futon as a third bed. Cabin is equipped with a propane stove that can be used outdoors. Bring your own gas cylinder. There is also a nice charcoal bbq outside. No cell service at cabin, but Verizon provided 2 bars of 4g about 2.5 miles up the road toward Rat Trap Gap. Tedoc Road ... read more
The Post Creek Guard Station was a wonderful getaway. It is extremely remote, so no cell service, no human contact, but that is it's purpose isn't it:-) The Forest Service Roads leading up to the camp were in pretty good condition, we drove a car and made it. There is in fact running water at the camp but also a stream nearby you could filter from. Surrounding forests are completely burned from recent fire, but there are signs of life!
The Cabin: Five stars! The cabin was clean, comfortable and has an indoor toilet! The beds were incredibly comfortable- two queen memory foam mattresses (with mattress coverings). We brought sheets and blankets and it felt like home! The view is spectacular, and even on a full moon the cabin was great! Only wish there were screens on the windows to allow airflow and no bugs. This location is incredible! The view, the seclusion, the space, just perfect. The porta-pottie was horrible, but we didn't expect much in the way of a restroom so that didn't detract from a wonderful experience. It's a daunting mountain drive but well worth it, watch for rattlesnakes.
