Beer lovers unite at this Portsmouth institution of brew. – Portsmouth loves its beer (especially from its nearby breweries, Smuttynose and Redhook), and the Portsmouth Brewery appeases the masses' thirsts as New Hampshire's original brewpub. The gastropub menu ranges from seasonal grilled flatbread to stout beef stew, with plenty of seating and pint glasses to spare.

great food and beer – my wife and I went there for lunch on a saturday. we got the beer sampler 10 4oz. beers for $6. I had a special [grilled tolapia fish with mashed potatoes] that was awesome! my wife had the basil rathbone open sandwich that was great too

good beer - duh – i shouldn't have been surprised when i had to send back the hummus and baba ganoush plate. i mean, after all, it IS called the portsmouth brewery - not bistro/ristorante/cafe, etc. and the beers we had - the stout and cream ale - were fine. actually, the cream ale was weak - the stout was awesome. however, whatever chef allowed that runny, parsley infused concoction to be served should be fired for caring so little. the grilled vegetables that came with it were fabulous, but i shudder just thinking of tryin... read more
