My wife and I were looking for Italian in North Burnaby and we found this very nice little Restaurant. I'd previously eaten at Portabello's when it was on W. Broadway in Vancouver. We shared a grilled Calamari alla Pizzaiola which was delicious. We then shared a Penne alla Bolognese where the taste of the sauce was excellent and the pasta was fresh and cooked nicely. Server was a little arrogant. Ended up with the wrong food. I didnt bother complaining as it would have taken too long to get what I ordered. Caesar salad was excellent.
It was my birthday and we had a wonderful bottle of italian red(as we are in an Italian restaurant)and two great appetizers! The soup of the day as well as the calamari which was not fried but grilled and was perfect. For our mains we had the veal and prosciutto and the cioppini Del Mar(the mussels were perfectly cooked). Everything was reasonably priced for being a fine dining meal which is hard to find in Burnaby. As a side note, the Bailey's cheesecake was fantastic!

The food is good but not great. The caesar salad was very disappointing. Maybe 10 pieces of lettuce and a smattering of cheese. Perhaps the food didn't taste as good because the service was abit indifferent. The waiter, an older gentleman, did not seem like he belonged in a supposed more upscale restaurant.
