Great way to explore Casco Bay! If you are not doing a tour you're limited to exploring a certain zone - you'll only need 1 hour to fully paddle it. Next time we want to do the tour but if you're going during off peak season you should book in advance so they know not to cancel!
I retired last year and as a lifelong kayaker decided to become a registered sea kayak guide and pursue licensing by the State of Maine. I was advised to take a kayak exam course and was recommended to Portland Paddle. I took the 2 weekend/4 day course in May and yesterday (Sept 10) I'm proud to say - on my 3rd attempt - passed the exam! As I have learned, Maine has the toughest guide licensing process of any state. We had such a great time kayaking in Portland! Our guide, Josh, was incredibly friendly, helpful, and full of local knowledge—pointing out wildlife and sharing fun stories along the way. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.
