I'm visiting Chicago for the 1st time and this lifelong resident told me I had to have a Chicago Italian steak sandwich with sweet peppers & said that Portillo's was his favorite place ... so I went. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had!!
Portillo’s absolutely delivered with this Italian beef sandwich. It came piled high with a generous amount of tender, flavorful beef, and every bite was rich, juicy, and satisfying. The spicy giardiniera added the perfect combination of heat, crunch, and tanginess without overpowering the meat.
