We were hiking thru on the Pacific Crest Trail we walked into town with blisters an complete exaustion. Knowing it was a holiday weekend we asked if they could accomadate us, they had told us that we could stay for 2 nights but not more becouse the room was reserved. Found ourselves at 11pm with nowhere to stay. No rooms available. 5 ladies from Mississippi who had just traveled through Death Valley. Went to The Portal Motel and met the most delightful lady who immediately offered a room with 3 queen beds for less than $100. Not having a clue what this room would be and having no other choice we said we would take it. Were we in for a suprise!!! Very clean, large room, 3 queen beds, a shower with a flow that felt like a pressure washer and last but not least, heated tile bathroom floor. ... read more
