Established in 1931, Port Everglades Pilots Association specializes in providing navigation facility and marine pilotage services. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the firm s pilots in the Association are dual licensed by both the State of Florida and the United States Coast Guard to provide compulsory marine pilotage to all seagoing vessels calling at Port Everglades or Port Dania. A federal project provides for a 500-foot wide entrance channel 45 feet deep converging at the jetties to a 450-foot wide channel 42 feet deep leading to a turning basin 42 feet deep with north and south extensions 31 feet deep. It also provides ship schedules pilot training.
