I think it was such a wonderful experience! The rooms were all very clean and comfortable. The overall luxury it exudes from the very beginning of looking at it intrigues you. It intrigued me so much I had to make sure I booked at least one night before leaving with my husband. It was a wonderful stay the bar in the rooftop amazing! Our bartender was Addie I forgot his last name but he is a very charismatic individual. I was on the 10th floor and it was great! Knowing a tree is planted for the amounts of nights you stay is a... read more
If you're looking for a hotel experience that tests both your claustrophobia and your patience, look no further than the Populus in downtown Denver. The hotel markets itself as a deeply quirky, "carbon-positive" architectural marvel featuring raw concrete ceilings and elevator music consisting of recorded forest birdsong. It is aggressively eccentric, clearly designed for a specific line of clientele that I can only assume overlaps heavily with fans of Carrot Top. Built for Stuart Little The exterior is designed to mimic the... read more
I think the Populous is a social experiment. At no point is the guest experience considered in this hotel. If you’re considering where to spend your $300, $900, $2000 for your Denver vacation, I highly recommend you don’t spent it here. Why? Beautiful Hotel, drawn in by the Gaudi influenced architecture and enjoyed the experience. The first glimpse of the lobby sets the expectations of something special. We appreciated the warm welcome from Luann at the check in desk and, when she learned it was our anniversary, offering us complimentary perks. I love it when employees are empowered to show kindness like she did. The Capitol Studio Suite was...sweet. My favourite part of it was the views framed by the "aspen eye" windows. I appreciate the simple geometry of 2 ca... read more
Honestly, this was a nightmare hotel stay, which was especially disappointing because I came in expecting the exact opposite. I’d dined at Populus before, enjoyed coffee and a book in the second-floor lounge, and had been looking forward to finally staying here during a work trip to Denver. I was excited enough that I skipped online booking and called reservations directly to make sure I selected the best room for my first stay. After traveling all day, I arrived around 9:30 p.m. only to be told the hotel had been overbooked... read more
