Predatory lending. My father took a $96,000 loan out in 2022. They valued his property at 347,000 ($550,000 actual) at the time. He unfortunately passed away. The new value 2 years later is $647,000. Much higher than market. The repayment/payoff is $200,000. They stole all the equity. The contract is a nightmare. They basically stole all the equity in the property. I can see 20-30% even 40. But double? In 2 years? Hopefully this helps somebody. This should be an absolutely last resort.

Please people. No one should ever be desperate enough to agree to Point's terms! The agreement is written totally and completely in their favor in everyway, where they absolutely can't lose. Yet they still put you through an appraisal (after removing a huge percentage of your actual value to "protect themselves" first) and run your credit before funding! They even wanted to pay down debt with the money they offered even though I still have 48% equity in my home without any payoffs. I think they should count their blessings t... read more

Avoid! Updated- they never asked for a copy of the appraisal we had done separately. They just closed everything out. But going with a different company that did a fair appraisal unlike Point. Regardless of their pathetic response (below), they rig the appraisals which is so dishonest, I hope they get the karma they deserve. They hire a “3rd party appraiser” that gave contradictory statements and had comps that were not in the same condition.
