I greatly enjoyed their overnight farmstay package. The nature drive into the cottage was interesting and very scenic. The accommodations were very cute and comfortable and the penguin program was excellent. I also got to bottle feed a lamb and enjoyed the sheep and cattle on the property. This was an excellent way to end my New Zealand trip. All the staff are beyond friendly. Highly recommend them.
My family and I visited in June, 2025. Expect the guide/driver to pick you up in Akaroa and drive to the penguin conservatory (located in her family farm) with stunning views along the narrow roads. Warm jackets, time to take pictures, and penguin information are provided enroute. Upon arrival, we drank tea and ate homemade cake, learned about penguin habitats and saw about 15 penguins up close with our guide. My daughter and I went on the 2-hour Pohatu Penguins nature tour today with Kevin as our guide, and we had the best time! We absolutely loved getting up close and personal with all the animals. Kevin’s knowledge and passion for the environment made the whole experience even more special – we learned so much while still having a lot of fun. Really great tour, tour guide had so much good information and amazing sights both on the drive out and the farm itself.
Excellent tour! We learned so much about the little blue penguins, saw them up close and really enjoyed spending the day with locals who have spent their lives protecting these incredible birds.
