Poor repairs, equipment hacking by uneducated management and technicians. Wages far below average attract only low skilled new hires and high turnover. This contributes to 80% of the manufacturing being farmed out. Old school trade, obsolete skills are not worth learning and dying off. PMC is a big loser for employment and worthless for learning a trade.
