This Planet Fitness on Cherry Avenue in Long Beach has a serious problem with selective enforcement, and today was not an isolated incident. I was stopped and threatened with removal, they said they'd call authorities, over a small fanny pack, not even a full sized bag. Meanwhile I watched other members walk in and out with backpacks and bags two, three, even four times the size of mine, and staff said absolutely nothing to them. I have photos to prove it. My son's locker was broken into at the gym, and his backpack, which held all his workout items, was taken. This isn't just about the stolen items; the backpack was a gift from his brother, who is currently in the Middle East because of the war. He reported the incident to the gym manager and an employee, but they simply took his report and dismissed him.

After my gym session, Tamaya questioned why I was parked in a handicap space. I politely told her, "I'm sorry, I do have my handicap placard. I've been coming here for a month, and this was not a pleasant experience." I understand the importance of making sure handicap spaces are used appropriately, but the way the situation was handled made me feel uncomfortable. Small place but enough equipment to get work outs done. I mainly go early in the morning and most equipment is unoccupied.
