Vegan pizza! Pizzeria Toro is one of my go-to spots for takeout in Durham. Their rotating vegan pizza is always incredible. It's seasonal, flavorful, and consistently delicious. I love that they switch it up every few months, because it gives me something new to look forward to each time. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pizza Toro in Durham, NC, and it was a fantastic experience! Fun, energetic environment. You can see the chef pulling pizzas from the oven and preparing them in front of you. I had the white egg pizza and it was very good. I also enjoyed the ricotta dumplings, they were much different than I expected. I have do them a star for the kale salad. I don’t know who ticked off the chef, but that salad needs a warning! Way too hot for someone who doesn’t like spice couldn’t even finish one bite very disappointing. Otherwise, everything was great.
Don’t order a few takeout pizzas from the bar and have one beer while you wait for them. They’ll charge you the included/full 20% gratuity on the entire bill.
