Not what I expected! My husband and I stopped here on our way back from Williamsburg one afternoon and it wasn't what I expected at all. They have a self-pay walking tour, or you can stay as a guest at the B and B. Not really a plantation to tour per se. Nice enough walk though. Pretty grounds.
Valentine's Treat We just stayed here for a long Valentine weekend getaway. This is a special B&B. Not over-the-top fancy, but appropriatel for the historical nature of the homes - The place is actually made up of the original historic house and homes that the family brought there to save them destruction. Our room was in the Ladysmith house. The James Allen is nicely situated on the second floor with views of the gardens and barnyard menagarie - I loved the ducks and geese. What a historical treasure - Exceeded our expectations! We wanted a weekend getaway not far from home and found Piney Grove at Southall's Plantation. This landmark historic property is located a short drive off Route 5 (The James River Plantation Road) a short drive west of Williamsburg.
