I had a dog bone pendant made and I absolutely love it. It has my dogs name on the front and his birthday on the back. I originally wanted a hammered finish but Christian thought a matt background would look more clean and I wear it on my rope chain. I was unsure if I made the right decision but I went to the San Diego Jewelry exchange to sell a cross and was wearing the pendant and they all said the matt background was the best choice.
