good food The food was good, I love Vietnamese Food. I like the fresh spring rolls. My daughter has fried Tu Food and fried vegetable. I also had the soup, which was very good.
WHAT THE PHO? I grew up eating at Pho Hoa, and it used to be THE place to get PHO. In my opinion its a landmark, being that its been around for so long, and just about every Vietnamese person within a 15 mile radius has eaten here at one time or another. I guess over the years we've been spoiled with the myriad of "PHO" restaurants sprouting up everywhere, we've come to forget our roots?
Good Food & Good Service This restaurant is very good. They food is pretty good and the service is fine. There is parking in the lot outside the restaurant. However, it is a small little place and the decoration and interior layout is just average. It is not fancy. I would not take someone here for a banquet or a big party because the atmosphere and size of the restaurant does not portrait such an occasion. But if you want a nice little place to get a bite for yourself, with a friend or a small gathering, this is good for th... read more
pho hoa rocks As far as taste goes, this place is definitely one of the best Pho outside of Little Siagon esp. in South Bay. The broth is light, but tasty. It's the closest I found to the way my mother would make it. The real way where it's brewed for a long time and don't use seasoning to substitute for flavor. It is not overly oily like some other places. The price is cheap. You get a good amount of noodles and beef for a small, which I could never finish and they don't charge extra for beef on the side like some other pla... read more
overall a pretty good place if you're looking for a spot where the laid back hip atmosphere is more important than how tasty the pho is, then this is the place to go. the interior is very modern industrial and the clientele are young hip silverlakians. the pho here is ok and passable since there aren't many other spots around the area that serve pho(except Gingergrass). the broth is healthy tasting and not as flavorful as authentic spots. one thing cool though is that they do serve banh xeo (flour omelette with either beef o... read more
Decent Pho Well I dunno about the person who has reviewed this one before me but i have there twice and each time my bowl was HOT. The meat was cooked and the service was amazing. Best of all the costs were very competitive. I guess this place is a YMMV (Your mileage may vary) Probably depending on the tiem you go coz when i went there the place was pretty empty and we got prompt service. total cost for 2 people 22$ PROS: low costs CONS: cheap with no frills place
Cheap Food This is once again, one of the many restaurants our family loves. It is located two blocks down where my dad lives so we walk to it. If you are driving, there is no parking spaces but there is a parking area about a block or block and half close to this place. Try public transportation. The location is situated by the tenderloin so you would see some bums around. Dont worry they wont bite and they dont bother you. The place is clean and service is efficient. The food taste great - try to order their vermicelli rice... read more
pho is quite tasty Pho Hoa is a chain restaurant that serves a Vietnamese beef broth soup called Pho. Since it is a chain the pho isn't as great as the other mom and pop stores serving Pho. However, this one in San Francisco is quite palatable and agreeable.
A Lukewarm Bowl at a mediocre restaurant There are plenty of good pho joints in the saigon area, but avoid Pho Hoa at all costs. The inside is typical--no frills and cheap prices. However, the bowl that came to me was lukewarm, a veritable sin in the world of pho. My raw meat didn't even get cooked all the way. Avoid like the plague. PROS: Cheap. CONS: Fundamental flaws in cooking.
