PET+ER began in a small area storefront in 1986 on York Road. It was called "The Animal Emergency Center" and cared for the patients of local veterinarians after hours and on weekends. As time progressed, veterinarians needed a place to send daytime emergencies when they were very busy. I am giving this facility two stars instead of one because of the compassionate telephone call I finally received from the veterinarian, Dr Tonin (a salaried employee of this enterprise who has no control over its operations) after sitting outside the facility for four hours, at the mercy of two horrible surly employees who appeared periodically to collect paperwork and take away beloved pets from their tearful owners. Whoever answers the phone is the opposite of compassionate. The tone resembles something you’d hear in the McDonald’s drive thru. SMH. I know my emergency might not mean much to you in the grand scheme of things but you could at least pretend to care.
