Lovely setting but incredibly slow service and inattentive staff, also very few gluten-free options.
It’s quite sad to see how much the food and service at this place have deteriorated. I’ve been visiting Petersham Nurseries for almost 20 years but my recent visit with a friend was a real disappointment. I ordered the ravioli which arrived as a rather sad portion of just five or six pieces, sprinkled with Parmesan that had an unpleasant, almost vomit like smell—reminiscent of the low quality pre-ground Parmesan you used to find in supermarkets. Great service from lovely staff. Atmosphere was especially amazing and the food tasted delicious. The english breakfast was super healthy with a good portion of scrambled adds, roasted tomatoes, beans and bacon, plus sourdough bread with quality butter.
What a lovely spot! Good food, great atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. It was also kid friendly and accommodating. The walk from Richmond to the teahouse was absolutely fantastic with nice views along the Thames. Will definitely be back.
Petersham Nurseries Teahouse in Richmond is a magical garden dining spot. It has three distinct sections: fine dining restaurant, casual dining area and glasshouse teahouse with separate menus. Fresh, organic local produce. The carrot and walnut cake is a signature favourite. After your meal, wander around the plant nursery and garden. Opens only on Wednesdays onwards. Perfect for a relaxing day trip from London.
