I went for a routine exam, and nobody explained that the doctor would use a special scope that would turn the exam into a procedure. I received an extensive bill one year later. When questioned as to why nobody had explained this BEFORE the exam, the woman on the phone said, Well, the doctor doesn't know anything about financials. And the front desk girl doesn't know, either. I understand insurance is complicated, but somebody should have warned me that there MIGHT be special charges!
