If you want your needs as a patient completely and totally ignored, Dr. Palermo is the guy for you. Appointments are rushed through, with the doctor often walking you to the front counter while still giving his diagnosis. And if you have any questions after the appointment, well forget about getting an answer. The doctor and nurses don't return phone calls half the time. Dr Palermo is great, he is patient and very thorough. Dr Palermo is very methodical in his diagnoses. I have been going to him since approximately 2012. He also listens to my concerns. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Palermo. My mom and my girlfriend also go to Dr Palermo now and they are both satisfied too. It’s true he rounds on his patients at 4AM. Who does that unless you’re don’t actually want to talk to or engage with anyone? I just listened to him lie about the results of a CT scan (“Didn’t show anything.”) that clearly shows advanced vascular dementia. The patient experienced hallucinations yesterday, and his solution was to stop pain medication that is only being given every six hours, and the pain is still not managed. This is not compassionate care; it’s not “care” at all.
When I came to Dr. Palermo, it was only due to an emergency situation. I was in extreme pain, he spent 20 minutes with me, and determined I could have Diverticulitis or an Appendicitis. He sent me to the hospital and ordered tests, “Stat”. I did have diverticulitis and had to be put on heavy duty antibiotics. For this visit, he charged me as a new patient consultation $395.00.
