I just spent $80 on fish at this store, and found dead fish floating in their tanks. I bought several species for my setup — and just to be clear, I have five established tanks, I’m not new to fishkeeping. The fish were purchased on 07/12/25, and by today, 07/16/25, all the fish from this store are dead, except one that was being eaten alive from the inside by bacteria. Today I went into petco and asked the manager for some aquarium salt for my fresh water fish. The aquarium salt was not available, so I was told to purchase marine salt. I purchased the salt and followed the directions perfectly.Only to find out that this particular salt will kill freshwater fish and all of my plants.
