Great place to eat. Their clam chowder is the best in New England. My wife and I went out there to celebrate her birthday on April 10, 2011. I ate the swardfish which was delicious. They even gave her a small piece of cake with one lit candle for desert, at no charge. There was a interesting view of the old shipyard by the window overlooking the Essex River.
Quality has gone down,Too expensive. – Having grown up in the area I used to eat at Periwinkles quite a bit, but last Sunday was my first visit in about five years. The beer, wine, and cocktail list was decent, and the pomegranate martinis were yummy. The chowder and honey jalapeno rib appetizer was above average. However, we ran into trouble with the entrees.
