What a letdown visiting Pikan Media in Philly, don’t buy into all the overhyped fusion praise. Their so-called fresh sushi tasted fishy and rubbery; the salmon had dull, uneven marbling with a weird metallic aftertaste, nowhere near premium quality. The garlic string beans were drowning in cloying salty brown sauce, overcooked and mushy, zero garlic aroma at all. My partner and I tested multiple local eateries after moving out from Philly, and we stuck with this restaurant temporarily, only to realize it’s full of hidden flaws. Their sashimi and sushi fish tastes borderline expired, slimy and bland with none of the clean bright flavor fresh raw seafood should have.
