I own property in Stillwater and had a tax issue. This office was great to work with. Between them and the assessors office I was able to resolve my issue with one phone call and one visit.

The office is poorly ran. Legally after someone does not pay their taxes for three years the property goes to the sale in June. But I soon found out that there have been property owners, whose property didn’t make it to the sale because they’re special. They are prominent families who own a ton of property and goodness forbid that they are treated like everyone else. I had a deeply concerning experience with the Payne County Treasurer office that other property owners should be aware of. I logged in to pay my 2025 property taxes and was shocked to see a $170 fee along with a “final payment” notice. I have consistently paid my taxes every year and had never received any notice that I was behind. When I called the office, I was told I had an unpaid balance from 2022.
