Rented from Payless Car Rental at Des Moines Airport. Mid-sized car/suv needed for two passengers and luggage. Toyota Camry or similar would fit the bill as reserved 3 months in advance at a good price. The counter agents were pleasant and helpful, apparently, they handle all the car rentals at Des Moines at the same counter. Excellent service
I feel like I should do a review since there are so many bad reviews on this place. We rented two vehicles and didn't have any major issues. We had reserved 2 mini vans and when we came to the counter we were told that they don't have any minivans but that they would give us 7 passenger SUVs for the same price. Other than the fact that the AC didn't work in the one SUV, everything worked out good. The one vehicle was a little dirty but nothing terrible.
I reserved an SUV. They only offered me a 12 seat passenger van. I said I was not comfortable driving something so large. They seemed very smug and said they would just cancel my reservation then. I asked if there were any other options available and they explained no, because they’ve fulfilled their obligation to me by offering a 12 seat passenger van. Throughout the whole process they were coarse, arrogant, and unapologetic. I cancelled and have yet to receive a confirmation email that my money will be refunded, as I sit i... read more
