Unending stream of calls trying to upsell me on an endless numbers of add-on services. Previously with the competition I didn't get any of this in my life was way more peaceful. For a good year or so after I started using them they would even call me continually trying to get me to start using the service I was already using from them (basic payroll processing). The right hand at Paychex doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

I used Paychecks for a few years because it was mandated for my S Corp. I had tried several times to get me them to train me on how to adjust payroll but never did once get anybody to walk me through how to use their app or their dashboard. Not training users had to use what they’re paying for is absolutely absurd! Then when we had to offer the 401(k), they charge a large fee to open up such service and then when I closed it, they’re charging me $1500 to close it. I own a CPA firm and we have referred clients to Paychex in the past. The service has gotten progressively worse, which might explain why the Costa Mesa has reportedly closed (per the internet!). This year has been an absolute debacle. We contacted Paychex about 2 weeks prior to 12/31/25 to issue W-2s. No response. We called again near yearend and finally got a hold of someone new. DO NOT, AND I MEAN DO NOT USE PAYCHEX! ZERO STARS. Where do I even begin.... their customer service is terrible. You wait on hold for nearly an hour, just to be told that the you need speak with a different department, and then never get anywhere to resolving the issue. I'm sure like myself, most of the people using this service are small business owners, and don't have an extra hour in their day to sit on hold for this nonsense.
