SCAM – Went there recommended by locals. The room was cold and gloomy. Wobbly tables. The waitress was very unfriendly. But what i do not accept is being served tilapia for grouper (supposedly fresh of the day). This is a scam. Some other restaurants in town actually propose the choice between Tilapia and grouper, at different prices. But here they lie to you. The glass of wine i ordered was pretty much vinegar.
Pauly's Cafe – My husband and I dine at Pauly's whenever we travel to St. Mary's. The restaurant sits in the midst of the historic district, across the street from the waterfront and the ferry to Cumberland Island. I've eaten at Paulys many times, I've had everything from the chicken marsala to the classic house salad. All their food is wonderful!!!! The resturant owner has created his own abstract menu with his own designs. Nice place for a quick quite bite. We enjoy eating outside and feeling the waterfront breeze. The only downside is the resturant is tiny, your literally elbow to elbow with other consumers, and the restroom is rank! No matter how delicious the food is, a nasty restroom will turn my stomach quickly.
Great Food This place has very good food. Some seafood, mostly Italian. The Chicken Marsala was excellent! It's a little on the small side, which makes things quite intimate. A little high on the prices, and everything is a la carte.
Excellent Near-Waterfront Lunch Spot – Pauly's quaint little establishment just off the waterfront in historic Saint Marys, GA has a varied menu to suit all tastes. Don't look here for a charred burger or greasy fries - no sir! Pauly's uses some of the freshest ingredients I have ever encountered in a sit-down or take-out cafe.
