Several years ago, I had a grand mal seizure for the first time. An MRI found a tumor in my brain. Dr Penar gave me a biopsy. After the biopsy, I waited for about two weeks for the results. Meanwhile, I continued having seizures. I finally called my primary care doctor, and he told me the results. I was diagnosed with brain cancer. It was grade 4. Dr. Penar is wonderful! He did my first surgery back in 2011 and I have another one coming up in July. He is always pleasant to speak to and very informative. My recovery form my first surgery was amazing and I have no doubt that I will have the same experience again. I would definitely recommend him.
Dr. Penar is excellent. He's careful and circumspect in choosing to do surgery - something that can be rare in a neuro*surgeon* (since that *is* what they do). He's been awarded a Top 100 Doctor in America distinction and is one of the primary doctors that the VP & LP Shunt manufacturers consult. He has done multiple brain surgeries on me and didn't give up on me... even though my case was particularly difficult due to rare underlying conditions.
