About this business

The joy in my professional life comes from that special interaction with each individual patient- that privileged 'one-on-one' relationship based on compassion and trust. Most often this occurs in the office or operating theatre, but not infrequently, I make house calls- for neurosurgical patients too sick or disabled to easily make it to the office. And annually, I find the time to do volunteer work- providing care for patients in East Africa with no access to neurosurgical care and helping to educate a future generation of... read more

He did 5 spinal operations on me. Neck and low back. Microdiscectomy. Thankfully, both helped me a lot, and I am not currently having further problems. I’d go back to see him in a heartbeat.

I had spinal stenosis. Dr. Young operated on my back. The surgery went much faster than I had anticipated. I was in pain prior to the surgery and could only walk about 100 feet before the pain was so intense that I had to stop. The actual surgery was only a matter of minutes. I had a Band Aid on my back, but the pain was gone from my back and the numbness in my leg was also gone. I came home and walked 1/4 of a mile without pain! I would definitely recommend Dr. Young.

Did not even examine me. I have severe lower bak pain. Severe stenosis. Never even had me take my coat off. Made me walk across the room once, then gave me a diagnosis of flat back syndrome. Told me to do 1 to 2 months of PT and my pain would magically go away. I told him i already tried PT and it did nothing. He did not want to hear it and set me on my way with no follow up. Went to another surgon who told me there was no way i had flat back. Do NOT waste your money!!!!!!!! Stay away!

Business response:

In spinal disease it is very important to promote conservative treatment measures. Degenerative disc disease, disc herniations and stenosis are extremely common and in many settings are not the pain generator. Poor core strength, flexibility, mechanics and fitness are often more important issues that require a proper exercise program. As a result, very often there is no "quick fix" with a surgical procedure.
