Dr. Gauger is incredibly professional and knowledgeable. Great bedside manner and really took his time with us explaining results, tests, procedures and after-care. We have recommended him to several friends and family members who have also had the same positive experience.
Wife had thyroid surgery with gager at the post op appointment he dismissed her question told her her symptoms were not due to the thyroidectomy. But weirdly everyone else on his team said that all these symptoms were all related to the surgery. He told her that he would humor her and take blood I'm not sorry you don't humor a patient you listen to them when they say there is a problem you get paid to fix it he couldn't care less told her to see her PCP from now on about any issues. Incredible team! Incredible experience.
He told me put my disease in the back of my mind. He told me my symptoms couldn’t be this bad. He blew me off when he specializes in this disease. since then my health has deteriorated.
Dr. Gauger and staff do not have a great bedside manner. Pain after surgery was not managed well, in so much pain, (I slept in patient lounge during my stay not his or his staffs fault). Just no pain relief so just walked most the night. Compassion is definitely not a strong suit of him or his staff, there to do a business transaction. Medically he is a good surgeon. I would not go to him again, and not because he is not a good surgeon, but because after 20 years having U of M doctors he lacks the whole medical team package ... read more
