While rugs should be stored rolled around a support tube, if you ever need to store a rug, use a cardboard tube that is approved for use with rugs – or wrap a regular cardboard tube with acid-free tissue paper. Avoid using a PVC pipe for a tube as the chemicals in the pipe can damage the rug.
