Horrible Manager Today I went to buy a box of screws and a box of nuts. They only had a half box of nuts (50), so I received discounted price for it. When I got home I noticed that I had 2 boxes of screws (100 each)... Since I needed the nuts and I also didn't pay for one of the boxes (more expensive) I went back and I tried to switch the boxes. Pastime Hardware lacks good customer care policies... I have had several bad experiences at Pastime and will only go there if I have no reasonable alternative. Here's an example. I was charged twice for one of several items purchased. When I returned to the store (within the hour), they refused to return the funds for the erroneous charge saying, "how do we know you did not buy two pairs of gloves?". I suggested they ask the cashier or take an inventor. They refused to refund me for the double charge. On two other occasions,... read more
Old-fashioned hardware store Pastime Hardware has been around for a long time serving the homeowners of El Cerrito and surrounding cities. It has a good selection for do-it-yourself projects although probably not enough for professionals. They offer very good customer service once they call your number (it can take awhile). Incidentally, it's built on the site of the first commercial business in the area, a blacksmith shop circa 1880.
Great Hardware Store Weekend project - minor home repair - redecorating, or just need household goods like a toothbrush holder? Ace is a great place to go, and this particular Ace carries a lot of hard to find things that smaller hardware stores might not carry. There seem to be several sections: housewares (great waste basket selection), lighting (many to choose from), and hardware (the biggest section.)
