(Update) He’s got his story and I got a car unfixed. I now know any honest/decent mechanic would never try to ‘clean’ a failing alternator, let alone charge a premium for it.. He also charges over double for local parts (that should tell you enough), a bit of a smooth talker.. just avoid if you can, that’s what I would tell my family and friends.. Unreliable and overpriced. $1,300 later and just 2 hours after picking it up, my car broke down again with the same issue. I called him back, stranded, and he said well, I tried. Looks like you need the part we originally thought you did (an alternator) 2 stars instead of 1 because he was nice. Turns out the obvious choice for a failing alternator is to replace it, not clean it. $800 with a different mechanic and I was good to go.
Michael is amazing. Our van broke down on the way up to Brian head. Michael was very communicative and fair. He went above and beyond to get it fixed and get us back on the road to get us home in time for Easter. If we could give more than 5 stars we would.
The man was very nice and hooked us up with a tool to get us on the road 👍
