Decided to continue on the Rt25 - it seemed possible according to the map. I should have turned around by the Stone Cliff Bridge as it becomes almost a private drive. It keeps narrowing and those places on the map are not places of common interest (camps?). Better not traveled in dark.
Stopped here to fix lunch and plot my next move. This trailhead to the coke furnance is closed. Have to start at Rend trail. There's shade, a picnic table, info kiosk about the town of Thurmond. You can walk across the bridge to Thurmond. But there is some parking in the historic town.
